Sedation Dentistry
Experience Complete Relaxation
Sedation Dentistry is a safe technique that has helped thousands of people around the world receive the dental care they require.
What is Dental Sedation?
Sedation dentistry refers to the use of sedative drugs to help put patients in a state of calm and relaxation. Dental sedatives can be administered in a variety of ways, and the depth of sedation provided depends on the dosage used. While sometimes called “sleep” or “twilight” dentistry, you will feel relaxed comfortable yet awake and alert during your procedure.
Our dental care providers have the training and expertise to safely administer sedation for a variety of procedures. Whether you are coming for a routine appointment or a more complex or invasive procedure, dental sedation may be the key to a more pleasant, stress-free visit.
Oral Sedation
The technique of Oral Sedation begins about an hour prior to your dental appointment. A sedative pill is administered to the patient and after a short period of time you will then become very relaxed. Dependent on your needs your Oral Sedation can last between 2 and 6 hours. To ensure your safety, please organize a companion to bring and take you from the practice. As oral sedatives are not pain relievers, a local anesthetic will also be used.
Intravenous Sedation
Intravenous (I.V.) Sedation is the administration of tranquilizer medication into a patient’s vein. Compatible for the majority of patients, I.V. Sedation enables even the most anxious of people to undergo dental treatment. The sedatives administered, create strong feelings of relaxation and comfort. During your dental treatment you will not experience any pain or discomfort. When you have awoken after the procedure, you will have no memory of the treatment. As with Oral Sedation, a local anesthetic will be used for pain relief.
